In 2011, Geoff Hecht and I co-founded Hectic Digital, driven by a desire to create something of our own after years of freelancing. By 2012, we had opened a modest 500-square-foot office above a greenscreen stage on 4th Street in San Francisco. Over the next two years, we our client base grew and we expanded our capabilities to match that growth.
We welcomed Gwen Dane as our Technical Animator, strengthening our team and enhancing our output. With low overhead and high efficiency, we completed over 400 projects, utilizing more than 500 cores of on-site rendering power and a wide array of software and tools. Each project was uniquely crafted, avoiding off-the-shelf solutions.
Over seven years, we independently grew the business, moving through three office spaces and establishing ourselves as one of San Francisco’s leading boutique animation and VFX studios. We handled high-profile projects for clients such as HP, IMAX, Cisco, 2K Sports, Intel, Ubisoft, Symantec, and Salesforce, while also delivering top-notch VFX for nearly 30 indie and short films.
On July 16, 2018, we sold the company to InVision Communications and joined IVC as employees, where we further expanded the agency's video capabilities.
